SpartyMSU’s  Brew Crew assembled (Gav, Opie, Alfie, Dave and Andy) last week to Review and Predict the 2008 Spartan Football Season.. The Case of Oberon is Gone.. Dam... Andy had to makea beer run before we could continue... So we had to make a dent in the Crown and continue without Andy... Pass the Bottle and lets look at The EMU Hurons.. errrr... I mean the The EMU Eagles...

Game 2… Eastern Michigan University… Sept 6, 2008 at Noon, in East Lansing.....


They have a unique Water Tower… Urban legend has it that should a virgin ever graduate from Eastern Michigan University (in Ypsilanti), the tower will come crashing down…. Uuhhhh… yeah… It does look like somthing.. just can't tell what.....  



Whats not to like about EMU ? School Colors: Green and White… Had a Great Women’s Basketball Coach (Suzy Merchant ,now a Spartan), Had a Great Baseball Coach (Jake Boss Jr, Now a Spartan), Good Bars (Club 13, Speak Easy, etc… When in High School I used to go to the Spaghetti Bender….). Ypsilanti is the best city on the Huron River…..



But On to Football… Face it.. this will be a Win for the Spartans.. But lets at least take a look at the Eastern Michigan Team… They haven’t had a winning season since 1995… But, only lost 12 games by 8 or fewer points in the last 3 years… This might be their best chance for a winning season, except for the Spartan Game….

Last year on Oct. 6, they went into Wolver-weenie stadium and only lost 22  - 33.. Which is respectable.. Andy Schmitt was 15 – 28 for 108yrds passing, and rushed for 9 – 41. It was the Schmitt Show last year..  If he would have had more help, they would have easily won…. Will he have any help  in 2008 ?

Their Best returning Rusher is their Junior QB, Andy Schmitt (Even with a shoulder injury last year ) 279 yrds, Schmitt also passed for 1,613 yrds, he had 20 touchdowns…   Unfortunately, though they do have a trio of receivers  (Jacory Stone, White, and JuCo Kyle Pollock) that can catch, but they have no running game this year unless someone steps up… Even if they step up, their offensive line is WEAK….. and will have to be able to stop the Spartan “D”… Nuff Said… 

On the EMU “D”: High Light is LB Daniel Holtzclaw. A Four year starter, 27th nationally in 2007, and on the Lombardi watch list… Other than that… Nada.. Nothing.. Nope… sorry..

So with EMU (as much as We like them) they will have to Face, Hoyer, Ringer, Curry, A.J. Jimmerson, Mark Dell, Fed Smith, Tyler Hoover, Trevor Anderson, Roland Martin, Cironi, McGaha, Foreman, Otis Wiley…  I mean the tools in the Spartan shed are too much for the Eagles to overcome…
