2008 Spartan Football Predictions: Cal
SpartyMSU’s Brew Crew assembled (Gav, Opie, Alfie, Dave and Andy) last week to Review and Predict the 2008 Spartan Football Season.. God, I’m Glad Oberon is on Sale at CostCo….
On the discussion board is: Game One.. Uno… The Start of the Season….. Cal Golden Bears. Last year we were almost dead nuts in our predictions.. and no reason (Sober or not…) to think otherwise for 2008.
Game 1… Open up the season at University of California, Berkeley… Aug. 30, 2008 at 8:00PM EST
Spartans have the toughest non con schedule in the Big Ten.. and starting on the road is a great way to open it up…. this is a good test to start the year… We Applaud the decision !
Have looked at a couple Blogs trying to get a better idea of the Golden Bears (http://bearsnecessity.com/ , http://excusemeformyvoice.com/blog/) , but no really new info or news…
From what I can read, Berkeley seems to all about the Ugliest Mascot in the WORLD, Tree Huggin, some Dope Smokin, mediocre football, and Tightwad Hill.
Last year Cal was 7 – 6 and 3-6 (Pac Ten), they played Air Force in a Nothing Bowl… Right now, they don’t have a clue who will be behind Center to start for the Golden Bears.. Might be Oski the Bear Mascot for all we know… … Nate Longshore is injured and/or Riley (who lead the Golden Bears to a Win against Air Force) … No one knows….
Most experienced Running Back Jahvid Best, had an injured hip.. no telling how he’ll do… We don’t think to well… especially against Trevor Anderson and the new kid Tyler Hoover.
Their strength seems to lie in the “O” Line, and “D” backs… Thompson, Hicks, O’Dea, and Follett. But They are good.. not great… and not good enough….
With Hoyer, (The best QB in the Big Ten) Mixing it up between Ringer (The Best Back in the Big Ten) and Mark Dell / Fred Smith / Curry / Cunningham as Targets. Spartans confuse the Cal “D”…. and win the Offensive battle.
On the other side of the Ball I am sure Otis, Jones and Jenrette will be able to keep the young Cal Receivers from making too many plays, their receiving corps are new and inexperienced. They only have 12 catches smattered between 5 different retuning receivers….
Spartans are Fired up about this Game… and will probably Set the Direction for the Year….

Bears Necessity
This is absolutely hilarious. MSU beats Cal @ Cal. To be taken seriously as a blog you have to be at least semi-realistic. Being a homer is fine, but try and look upon the world without your Red Cedar tainted glasses.
